Harrogate Crime Festival July 2011

Nic and I have just returned from an amazing weekend at Harrogate crime festival. A mass of authors, agents, publishers and huge crime fiction fans gathered at the beautiful Swan Hotel in Harrogate from Friday for a feast of events and parties!

On Friday night at the CWA award announcements it was a delight to hear that our very own THE GOOD SON by Michael Gruber has been longlisted for the Steel Dagger award for best thriller of the year! As well as Atlantic's SNOWDROPS by A.D Miller for the Gold Dagger!

Saturday was kicked off for us by Phil Rickman's appearance on The Outer Limits panel. Andrew Taylor led the discussion about the use of supernatural themes in crime writing with Phil and Sarah Pinborough, SJ Bolton and Patricia Duncker.

This was closely followed by Val McDermid's introduction to some of the best breakthrough authors of the year on the New Blood panel with SJ Watson, Julia Crouch, Melanie McGrath and our Gordon Ferris who talking about his breakthrough success with THE HANGING SHED.

And this morning was the turn of our American crime writing giant C.J. Box who's triumphant UK tour came to a close today with the No Place Like Home panel event.

A wonderful time was had by all!
