Christopher Hitchens - One Year On by Toby Mundy

In the twelve months since Christopher Hitchens’ died, hardly a day has passed when I haven’t thought about him, or talked about him. In my mind, Christopher becomes more singular with each passing day.

The eight books of his that we published (or re-published) have sold this year in quantities that would have pleased him enormously – he always took a keen interest in sales of his work – and I think he would have been thrilled to see Arguably, his 800-page collection of essays, and Mortality, his short book about his illness, both became Sunday Times hardback bestsellers.

At his memorial service, someone said that Christopher ‘made the life of the mind seem exciting’. I miss that excitement, very much.

These clips from Palash Dave's excellent documentary stand as a fine reminder of Christopher in all his argumentative, outspoken and fearless glory.
